On May 27th, 2026, Fabio Sebastian Cruz gave Evan a copy of the revelation now known as Section 18 of “The Lost Revelations” in The Book of the Little Flock. It instructed Fabio in the consecration of a seer stone.
On July 31st, 2026, while attending the Sunstone Symposium, Evan received a seer stone from Grace Pool. Two days later, Evan and her friends consecrated their seer stones on the shore of the Great Salt Lake.
Evan continued to ponder seer stones and their use, eventually reading Ogden Kraut’s book “Seers and Seer Stones”. Still feeling that she needed further guidance regarding these instruments, she sought a revelation on August 17th-18th, 2026. She then consulted with the people closest to her about this revelation, and they gave critique and feedback, helping further refine the following revelation.
For more information on how I understand revelation, please read parts 1 and 2 of my article “The Gift of Revelation”.
1
A. Evan, you have read the writings of your brothers Fabio and Ogden and have sought further guidance.
B. Because you have asked, it shall be given to you; because you seek, you shall find; because you knock, it shall be opened to you. You are continually commended for seeking wisdom, for the glory of the gods is intelligence.
2
A. There are many spiritual gifts, some of which you receive at birth, others which you refine through practice, and still others which you strengthen through the use of tools.
B. Anciently, as well as in the early days of the Restoration, Seers often used a tool to help them in their ministries. These tools were known by many names, including “Urim and Thummim”, which translated means “Lights and Perfections” or “Manifestations and Truths”. They have also been called “interpreters”, “gazelems”, “seeing glasses”, “seer stones”, “peep stones”, or even “keys”.
C. These tools were sanctified and set apart for holy purposes. When used for selfless and righteous purposes, they were a great blessing to the user, while if used for selfish and corrupt purposes they were a great curse to the user.
D. Nevertheless, these are but tools, and not gifts in themselves. A person may be a seer without the use of such an aid.
3
A. A seer stone is a link between the seen and unseen worlds. Joseph Smith Jr. taught that everyone was entitled to such a stone, and this is true. Some have assumed that most must wait until they are given their seer stone by an angel, but this is false. A seer stone may be found or even consecrated at any point in life. All may become seers when they choose to develop the gift of Seeing, though many choose not to.
B. A seer stone may be of any natural stone or ore, or even of a refined metal, such as Joseph of Egypt’s cup. Even you have a seer stone made of bronze.
C. In either case, when a stone is to be sanctified and set apart for holy purposes, you shall anoint it with the holy oil of anointing. Holding it in your hands, you shall say a prayer of anointing, such as:
D. Commissioned by Jesus Christ, the Teacher of the Way, and by the Holy Authority that the Priesthood confers upon me, I consecrate this stone for the purposes of the Elohim in this, the dispensation of the fulness of times, that it may be an instrument through which whoever possesses it may receive communication from on High. In the Name of the Heavenly Parents, amen.
4
A. The ancient Israelites embedded their stones on to breastplates, Joseph kept his in a leather sack, and Fabio was told to wrap his in blue and purple cloth. Such reverence for a sacred item is good.
B. However, Joseph also taught that a seer stone with a hole may be hung upon a chain so that it can conveniently remain close at hand. You have done this with your seer stone of bronze.
C. Both are acceptable methods of storing and respecting seer stones. However, you must pray for guidance concerning how your stone should be kept. If it is to remain private, reveal it only to select and trusted people; if it is to be openly shared, do not conceal its existence.
D. In either case, keep your stone close to your heart and safe through your mortal journey, for it is a sacred instrument.
5
A. Now, concerning the use of these instruments:
B. It has been said that, when gazed upon, writing may appear upon the stone like words in a book or images on a screen. This may be true, but it is only a small part of the whole.
C. A seer stone is most appropriately used as a tool for focusing your mind and spirit on a topic. Similar tools include the Rosary, the Mala, or the Yantra.
D. Therefore, when seeking guidance through a stone, make your mind as clear as possible and direct it toward righteous purposes. If this be not the case, the stone will not properly serve its purposes. If need be, go your way and make your heart right through prayer, meditation, and making amends with others, and then return to your stone.
E. To use your stone, enter a quiet space with a mind open to revelation. After settling your body and mind, use your stone as an anchor for attention. Rest your eyes upon it and let your mind be still. Gradually, deliberate concentration gives way to receptive contemplation. Thoughts, feelings, memories, images, and intuitive impressions are allowed to arise without being forced or immediately interpreted.
F. Conclude the practice with gratitude and reflection. It is also wise to make a written record of what you experienced, so that genuine insight may be discerned over time and the record may be a help to future generations.
6
A. Do not mistake the purposes of these instruments. A seer stone is not given to uncover every hidden thing, to satisfy curiosity, or to obtain financial gain.
B. Therefore, do not use it to find lost objects, missing persons, or lost genealogies; nor use it to seek visions of the past or future or to interpret languages that you have not learned. Though people have sought to use seer stones for such purposes, this was folly.
C. You are instructed to use it to turn inward and examine the movements of the Spirit, your heart, your connections to others, and the world around you. Seeing the patterns that make up life is what it truly means to be a seer.
7
And now for the even greater lesson: do not call the stone sacred while treating its mother, the Earth, as profane. Care for her waters, soils, creatures, and generations yet to come; for the Earth herself is sanctified and anointed as a great seer stone.
8
A. Remember that the stone is only a tool that aids the gift of Seeing. Use it to perceive more clearly the truths before you, and treat it with reverence.
B. You have done well in your studies and in seeking wisdom, Evan. Continue to learn to See; and having Seen, act with wisdom, reverence, and love. For the purpose of Seeing is not merely to receive light, but to walk in it. Amen.
