This has been a wild week for queer folks in Community of Christ. The new website started off rocky, but IHQ listened to feedback and helped rectify things a bit.
Then, to top it off, Harmony announced today that the apostles who oversee Canada and the United States (Barbara Carter, Janné Grover, Ron Harmon, Robin Linkhart, Lachlan Mackay, Dave Nii, and Art Smith) have committed to move the queer policies from “Interim” to “Official” around the end of the year. This will include revision input from queer folks.
The second I read all of this news, this Beatles song popped into my head and has been on repeat since then! It fills me with joy and excitement to be a valued member of the queer community and my religious community! I have said it a couple times this week, but Queer Advocacy Works in Community of Christ.
